The World’s First iPhone/IPod Touch Video Calls (Fring)

Fring has announced the world’s first mobile video calls over Internet. Currently video calls only work using Nokia handsets and a Skype account; however, Fring has promised the feature will come to other “popular” platforms soon.

Fring has taken a giant step forward to bring the world’s first video calls over Internet to iPhone and iPod Touch. Best of all, it’s completely free.

With the video call feature, you can now receive and make fring & Skype video chat entirely over Internet connection. At the same time, you can see your friend on the other end. Of course, due to the lack of front camera, Fring only supports one-way (i.e. incoming stream) video call over WiFi on iPhone. For other mobile phones with front camera (e.g. Nokia Symbian S60 device), however, Fring offers two-way video chat.

Claimed to be your mobile social hub, other than the video call capability, the Fring app lets you interact with friends on all your favourite social networks including Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo! IM and AIM. You can talk, chat or send IM with your buddies on multiple social networks directly via Fring. Fring just combines all your IM contacts into one single buddy list. Say, you have friends on MSN, Skype and AIM. By using Fring, you can see all your friends’ status and chat with them simultaneously no matter they’re on MSN or Skype.

Fring is a free iPhone app and now available for download [iTune link.]. If you have already installed Fring, just download it again and upgrade it to the latest version to enjoy the video call feature.
