The screen is gorgeous, tilting is responsive, and the thing is super thin. Still, if you’ve used the iPhone before — and you can see the two devices side-by-side here — there’s not a lot of surprises here so far. Here are some initial thoughts on the iPad:
It’s not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
The screen is stunning, and it’s 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
There’s no multitasking at all. It’s a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you’re working in Pages… you can figure it out. It’s a real setback for this device.
The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn’t have an SMS app!
It’s running iPhone OS 3.2.
The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!

The iPhone Dev team is back and has just released Redsn0w 0.9 Beta n alternative for blackra1n. If you have performed jailbreaking on iPhone on iPhone OS 3.0, you probably know what redsn0w is. At that time, it is a very popular jailbreak and unlock tool that supports both Windows and Mac platform.
The previous version of redsn0w supports iPhone OS version up to 3.0. Now, redsn0w 0.9 beta supports:
- All iPhones and iPod touches except the iPod touch 3G - Windows and Mac OSX (x86) - Apple firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2
According toiPhone Dev team, redsn0w will also support iPod touch 3G, PPC OSX, and Linux when it’s out of beta.
As of now, blackra1n is the easiest and fastest jailbreak tool for handling iPhone jailbreaking. Redsn0w, however, offers additional customizations that allows you to alter the boot logo and recovery logo, as well as, switch to verbose boot. While blackra1n breaks jailbreaking, unlocking and installation of cydia into different processes, redsn0w combines all these steps together. Say, you selects jailbreak, unlock and “install cydia” options together. Once the whole jailbreaking process completes, the iPhone will be unlocked and installed with cydia automatically.
For those using the latest model of iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G with serial number begins with “MC”, you can still jailbreak it using redsn0w but only tethered jailbreak is available. That mean, every time after reset, you need to connect your iPhone back to computer to complete the reboot.
How is it different from PwnageTool?
Redsn0w doesn’t require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn’t even use iTunes at all). On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. (redsn0w doesn’t touch your baseband but it doesn’t help preserve it during an upgrade either). redsn0w works by modifying your current filesystem, so your existing baseband, data and applications should remain intact.

With the latest version of iPhone OS 3.1.2, Apple does not add any new features or customization for iPhone’s lock screen. What you get for the lock screen are a digital clock, a customizable wallpaper and an “Unlock” slider. Jay Freeman, recently announced the release of Cydget for jailbroken iPhone. Cydget provides a comprehensive replacement for Winterboard lock widget allowing developers and web designer to take control of the lock screen. Developers can make use of Cydget and creates interesting widgets by using either native code or HTML with javascript.
How To install Cydget Via Cydia
Launch Cydia > Select “Sections” at haptic menu > Select “Development” category > and select “Cydget” or you can tap “Search” in Cydia and type “Cydget” > Select “install” button at the right top and confirm it to install. After installation, reboot your iPhone and you’ll then find your lock screen is changed with a welcome message shown, which means Cydget is installed and activated properly.
Cydget does not appear as a normal application on iPhone. So, you’ll not find the application icon on the home screen. Instead, to configure Cydget, go to “Settings” -> “Cydget” -> “Lock Cydget Order”. You’ll find three cydgets (PhotoExample, Welcome, AwayView) available, which are come with the Cydget installation. By default, the Welcome and AwayView are selected.
To deactivate Cydget completely, simply deselect (i.e. untick) all the lock cydgets and go back to home screen. Your original lock should be restored.
Installing New Cydget
Other than the default lock cydgets, you can find several cydgets available on cydia. Just search “cydget”, Cydia will show you the available cydgets for download. You can then enable the cydgets in “Settings” as mentioned above.

Apple introduced the first version of iPhone 2G in June 2007. In June 2008, Apple continued to amaze everyone with the second generation of iPhone called iPhone 3G that supports faster 3G data speed and GPS. A year later, also in June, Apple launched the iPhone 3GS with better performance, high-resolution camera, digital compass and video capability.
Base on the release trend, it’s very likely Apple will show off the iPhone 4G in the coming June. Over the past months, there are rumors circulated around the blogsphere speculating the release and the upcoming feature of the 4th generation iPhone.
Dual Processor, OLED screen and Video Chat
Earlier this week, The Korea Times reported an exclusive local partner of Apple planned to sell an upgraded version of iPhone that will have an OLED screen and video chat support, as well as, dual core processor.
If the source is true, it’s cool to have live video and a dual processor will probably mean that the support of multitasking will feature in iPhone 4G. Surprisingly, the report also mentioned about removable battery. However, with reference to the usual practice of Apple, it’s unlikely we’ll see the removable battery. 5MP Camera and possibly with touch sensitive casing
According to an interview with Goldman Sachs’ analyst from Bloomberg, the new iPhone will feature a 5MP camera and possibly a touch sensitive casing, similar to Apple’s Magic mouse. Camera Flash

The team, ih8sn0w, has recently rolled out a beta release of a new jailbreaking tool called sn0wbreeze. In brief, sn0wbreeze is the PwnageTool for Windows. If you’re a Mac user with iPhone jailbreak background, you should be very familiar with PwnageTool. PwnageTool is a very popular jailbreak tool developed by the renowned iPhone Dev team. But the tool only works on Mac since its first release. While blackra1n is considered as the easiest jailbreak tool, PwnageTool offers jailbreaker flexibility that allows you to build a custom IPSW file with custom logo and personalized root partition size. You can even bundle the cydia apps in the custom build.
With the effort from ih6sn0w team, PwnageTool is now ported to Windows. You can now run it on Windows XP, Vista, 7 (32 or 64 bit). However, make sure you install .NET Framework 3.5 and with at least 256MB Ram to run the tool.

Here there is another cheat for Need For Speed gamers. Like the previous one, Need For Speed Undercover (NFSU) cheat gave you a million dollar cash. This cheat will patch the game data and give you $6M cash. So you can afford your dream car.

ReaddleDocs is a document viewer that basically covers all the ways of getting the document onto you iPhone – so there is no way that you cannot have your documents on hand. When you purchase ReaddleDocs, you also receive 512MB of storage space on their server. This allows you to upload any documents to the server via any browser and then sync them with you iPhone via any data connection (EDGE/3G/WIFI).
When you tap on the “Online” tab, you select the server you want to connect to and then you have the ability to sync with the server so that any new documents that you have retrieved via the iPhone will backup to your server and vice versa. Besides using your Readdle Storage space, you can also connect to your MobileMe iDisk or connect to a WebDAV enabled server.
A second way of getting documents onto your iPhone is by forwarding your attached document in an e-mail to you ReaddleDocs e-mail address (given to you when you create your online account). Then, again, you sync you iPhone with your account. A third way, is to use the built-in browser and navigate to a document then tap on a button to download the document to your iPhone. A fourth and final way is to transfer the documents from your computer to your iPhone via WiFi.
When viewing your documents, you can edit them - delete, move, create folders, rename folders, rename documents, mail documents, and add a document to a zip achieve. All documents that can normally be viewed on the iPhone can be viewed via this application as well. I really like the icons that it uses to represent the type of file (red icon for pdf files, blue icon to doc files, etc.)
Within the app you can view all your documents, view your online documents (through whichever server,) use the browser, view recently opened files and adjust settings for the app. I also like the document “reader” interface. When viewing files such as *.doc, *.rtf, the viewer is simple – you can scroll through your document like you would in the iPhone document viewer, however, you have and “add” button at the top, which allows you to insert bookmarks for that document. I find this incredibly convenient when reading a large document or e-book. The toolbar at the bottom of the screen allows you to view and edit bookmarks, e-mail the document, scroll through a document quickly using the slider and a full screen button.
If you turn the iPhone to the landscape position, it automatically goes to full-screen and rotates the document accordingly. When viewing an *.xls document, you have all the same features as above. At the top of the document, you can change between the sheets. You might also notice that when switching between sheets, arrows will appear at the bottom of the screen. These arrows are much like the arrows you would use in the browser.
When viewing images, you can view them much like you would in your photo reel, just tap the arrows to move through the pictures within that folder. You can also mail the documents via this image viewer. Besides viewing and retrieving documents, you can also view the device photos (which might prove a faster way of delete picture on your iPhone if you have to do it that way.)
Setting
In the setting screen, you have the ability to view or hide the “device photos” folder, setup mail settings – mail from and mail signature; allow WiFi network drive and apply username and password; several different viewing options including “view HTML as book”; you can also enable a passcode lock; and setup the document encoding.
The price tag of $9.99 is completely worth it. To have the ability of getting my document on my hand held and having them at my finger tips is worth it.
